Duties and Responsibilities

Position Overview
Seeking multiple urologists to provide urology physician services. Provide Board Certified/Board Eligible Urology Physician Services on-site at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV. Deliver care to VA beneficiaries in accordance with VA policies and national standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct Patient Care (Approx. 95%)
    • Deliver comprehensive urology care, including outpatient clinics, inpatient consults, and surgical procedures.
    • Perform specialty exams related to urological conditions, such as compensation and pension and Agent Orange exams.
    • Communicate test results to patients and providers within required timeframes.
    • Prescribe medications and provide discharge education and follow-up instructions.
    • Document all care in the VA electronic health record system per VA policy.
  • Administrative Duties (Approx. 5%)
    • Participate in quality improvement activities and required committee meetings.
    • Attend staff meetings as required by facility leadership.
    • Complete all required documentation for quality management and performance improvement.
    • Ensure compliance with patient safety and infection control standards, including reporting incidents as required.

Qualifications

  • Licensure: Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia. No history of license suspension, revocation, or voluntary surrender pending action.
  • Board Certification: Board Certified/Board Eligible by the American Board of Urology (ABU).
  • Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, with documentation provided and maintained.
  • Credentialing: Must complete VA credentialing and privileging process before providing services; ongoing compliance with VHA directives.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in all required urological procedures and fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing).
  • Continuing Education: Maintain all required Continuing Medical Education (CME) and provide documentation as requested.
  • Training: Complete all VA-mandated training, including EHR, infection control, privacy, and safety, on schedule.
  • Provide proof of DEA registration.

Infection Control & Immunizations

  • Negative tuberculosis (TB) test within the past year.
  • Proof of immunity to measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella.
  • Tdap (pertussis) vaccination.
  • Annual influenza vaccination (or mask-wearing if contraindicated).
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination (with documentation), subject to legal accommodations.
