Background and Path to TSi

Shana Hall’s professional journey has been shaped by a consistent interest in people, systems, and what makes organizations work well. Over more than 25 years, her work has spanned facilitation, leadership development, management consulting, organizational change, project management, and coaching. While those roles have looked different over time, the common thread has remained the same: helping people and organizations navigate complexity, uncertainty, and change in practical, sustainable ways.

Early in her career, Shana worked with organizations and leaders on tactical change, strategy, and organizational effectiveness. Those experiences taught her that even the strongest strategies and processes do not create meaningful change on their own. Change happens through people, and it requires leaders who understand themselves, engage others, navigate difficult conversations, make thoughtful decisions, and create the conditions for people to do their best work.

Her own experiences inside challenged organizations and under ineffective leaders further shaped that perspective. Over time, she became increasingly interested in the space between what leaders know and how they actually show up, particularly when operating in complexity or leading through significant change. That interest led naturally to leadership development, facilitation, and coaching, where she could work at a deeper level to help leaders build self-awareness, expand their capacity, and translate insight into action.

Shana’s own continued development has also influenced how she approaches the work. As an ICF Professional Certified Coach, Leadership Circle Profile 360 practitioner, and Hogan assessor, with additional study in vertical and adult development, she views leadership as more than acquiring a new set of skills. It is also about how people grow, relate, make meaning, and evolve as the demands of leadership become more complex.

That philosophy is also what drew Shana to Transformation Systems Inc. TSi’s mission, scientific approach to transformation, and focus on measurable outcomes aligned closely with how she believes leadership development should be done.

For Shana, the opportunity to support warfighters and public servants gives that work an especially tangible purpose. She was drawn to an organization where leadership development is treated as a rigorous discipline, grounded in evidence and connected to outcomes that extend beyond an individual intervention.

Role at TSi

As a Senior Leadership Coach and Organizational Development Facilitator, Shana is still early in her journey with TSi. Her first weeks have focused on understanding the organization from the inside out, including TSi’s solutions and services, approach to training, coaching, and facilitation, and plans for continued growth.

At the same time, she has already had opportunities to contribute her perspective across coaching, organizational development, training, and facilitation initiatives. She brings a multidisciplinary lens to leadership and organizational challenges, looking beyond any one methodology to determine what will be most useful within a client’s specific context.

That work begins with listening. Before moving toward a solution, Shana focuses on understanding what a leader or team is experiencing, how they define the challenge, and what the desired environment or results look like. From there, she works in partnership with clients to identify where to begin and how to build change in a way that is both meaningful and sustainable.

“The greatest impact comes when the people experiencing the change are also active partners in creating it. That is when change becomes something people own rather than something that is being done to them.”

Shana sees sustainable change as iterative rather than something accomplished all at once. Building intentional feedback loops throughout the process gives people the opportunity to shape the work, see their ideas reflected in it, and develop ownership of the outcome.

The same partnership is central to her work with individual leaders. For Shana, some of the most meaningful coaching happens between recognizing an opportunity for growth and actually changing how a leader shows up. Understanding what stands in the way of that change often requires vulnerability, honesty, and a willingness to examine patterns that may not be comfortable. When insight begins to translate into a new choice, a different conversation, or a new way of leading, that is where she sees the work take hold.

Expertise & Approach

As an ICF Professional Certified Coach, Shana approaches coaching as a partnership. Rather than serving as a mentor, advisor, or consultant who provides the answers, she creates the conditions for leaders to think more deeply, see themselves more clearly, and determine what will be most useful for their own growth.

That may include active listening, powerful questions, challenging assumptions or narratives, knowing when to push and when to pause, and holding leaders accountable. It also means recognizing the leader as a whole person and understanding the experiences and patterns they may be carrying into their role.

Shana’s background in project management and Lean Six Sigma adds another lens to her work. She has a strong appreciation for process, execution, and measurable outcomes, but does not see the human side of change as separate from those disciplines. Instead, she sees it as foundational to whether a strategy or transformation will ultimately succeed.

A well-designed process or strong execution plan can only go so far if the people responsible for carrying it forward do not understand the change, see themselves in it, or have ownership of it. For that reason, Shana believes the human side of transformation must be considered from the beginning, including whose work will be affected, what perspectives need to be heard, and how leaders will help people navigate the uncertainty that comes with change.

She also sees self-awareness becoming increasingly important as leaders take on greater responsibility. Leaders bring their own histories, assumptions, internal narratives, and learned patterns with them, and those patterns can become more visible under pressure. At the same time, today’s leaders are navigating increasingly complex teams shaped by neurodiversity, intergenerational differences, identity, lived experience, and rapid changes in the way work is done, including the rise of artificial intelligence.

For Shana, developing the capacity to recognize what a leader brings into those situations creates more choice in how they respond, connect, and lead.

Impact & Philosophy

Self-awareness sits at the center of Shana’s leadership philosophy. Leaders are continually influencing the people around them, whether they realize it or not. The more aware they are of how they show up, what they bring into relationships, and how their behavior affects others, the more intentional they can become.

That awareness creates room for leaders to pause and ask difficult questions of themselves: What am I bringing into this situation? What might I be missing? How might I be wrong? That kind of reflection is particularly valuable during conflict, pressure, or change, and it can directly influence a leader’s ability to build trust.

One of the most powerful breakthroughs Shana sees in coaching is when a leader realizes that a challenge they have been trying to solve externally may be connected to how they are showing up internally. A leader may begin coaching focused on a team that is not communicating, taking ownership, or performing as expected, only to recognize how their own assumptions, responses, or leadership patterns may be contributing to the dynamic.

That realization can be uncomfortable, but it also gives the leader something they can change. When a leader begins communicating differently, listening more intentionally, responding to conflict in a new way, or creating more space for others, the impact begins to extend across the team.

“The work may begin with one leader, but the impact rarely ends with that person.”

For Shana, that ripple effect is one of the most meaningful aspects of leadership development. Growth in one leader can influence employees, colleagues, families, communities, and people she may never meet. It is why she views coaching not only as an opportunity, but also as a responsibility to create growth that can continue long after an engagement ends.

Personal Perspective

Shana describes coaching, facilitation, and organizational development as work that is deeply connected to her sense of purpose. She values the opportunity to partner with people as they discover new possibilities, grow into new ways of leading, and create positive impact beyond themselves.

Outside of work, family, friendship, faith, and finding joy are central to how she stays grounded and recharged. She also makes intentional space for her own continued growth, reflecting on who she has been, what she has learned, and who she is becoming.

That focus on connection carries through both her personal and professional life: staying connected to herself, the people she loves, her faith, and the sense of purpose that continues to shape her work.

“Shana brings a thoughtful combination of leadership coaching, organizational development, and disciplined execution to TSi. Her ability to help leaders look inward, think differently, and translate insight into meaningful action strengthens not only the individual leader, but the teams and organizations around them. We’re excited to have her expertise and perspective on the TSi team.”
