ABOUT SHAWN

Shawn is the President and Chief Executive Officer of TSi and has over 20 years of corporate development, organization development, and program management expertise. Since joining TSi in 2012, he led TSi’s expansion into new customer organizations and the development of new services. In 2019 his role expanded to include responsibility for strategy and operations management as President.

Shawn has broad experience with organizational development and performance management by integrating organizations together through redesign or acquisition to match cultures, achieve results, and improve efficiency. He is a master moderator and has a honed skill for identifying new trends, technologies, and initiatives; assessing their efficacy and business results; and preparing organizations for adopting change and responding to market conditions.

Prior to joining TSi, Shawn held several executive positions with mid-sized companies supporting the Departments of Defense, Homeland Security, Energy, and the State Department. Most notably, he was an executive with SOC LLC and responsible for its Worldwide Protective Service Program and the stand-up of its Baghdad Embassy Security Force (BESF) task order with nearly 2,000 direct employees deployed in Baghdad and support operations in four additional countries and CONUS.

Shawn was also a business development executive for Lockheed Martin’s Deepwater program supporting the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Navy’s AEGIS and other maritime C4ISR programs. As Vice President, Business Development at BAE Systems, he was responsible for growing its Technology Solutions Sector and worked the acquisition and integration of Mevatek, a Huntsville- based business, into that sector.

Prior to joining industry, Mr. James was a career Naval Intelligence officer. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in English from the United States Naval Academy and a Master of Science degree in Information Technology Management from the Naval Postgraduate School. He also graduated from Naval Nuclear Power School.

SHARON FLINDER, PHD

Dr. Sharon Flinder is TSi’s Chief Talent Officer. She also serves as the Executive Director of Applied Psychology and is a Board Certified Coach (BCC) with a specialization in executive and leadership coaching. She coaches leaders to increase their effectiveness by developing greater self-awareness of personal and interpersonal dynamics. She is committed to helping leaders create their desired results and best leverage their network and staff. She integrates assessment instruments into her practice, frequently using 360 Degree Feedback. She has coached leaders from the private sector, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, and the Federal Executive Institute, including Senior Executive Service leaders, for over ten years, logging more than 1000 hours of coaching. Sharon loves her clients and is committed to both their success and their happiness.

As an Industrial-Organizational Psychologist, Sharon’s area of expertise is individual, group, and organizational performance. At the individual and group levels, she specializes in assessment, coaching, and development of leaders. At the organizational level, she works to align motivational systems with organizational goals, including training and development systems, performance appraisal and feedback systems, and compensation and reward systems. Since 1996, she has served as a subject matter expert and consultant within a large number of Program Executive Offices and Commands across the U.S.  Navy and Marine Corps to help leaders achieve their goals. Recently, Sharon led a team of executive coaches and training specialists in delivering the Advanced LEAP Program to thousands of individuals as part of a large-scale transformation initiative within an organization based in the Greater Los Angeles area and another program with the Department of Labor. Sharon received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Rochester. She received her Master of Science degree and Doctorate degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Virginia Tech. Sharon’s other certifications include:

Dr. Green is TSI’s Executive Director of Clinical Operations and is boarded in Internal Medicine and Family Practice and has his MBA from Johns Hopkins Carey Business School. He has been working with TSI in several capacities over the last 12 years and is a LEAP-certified executive coach, having coached leaders, executives, administrators, physicians, and clinical personnel throughout this time.

Dr. Green has over 30 years of clinical experience and is currently a partner in Maryland Primary Care Physicians (MPCP). Previously he was the CEO of South Shore Health System in Weymouth, MA from 2015-2019, was the President of Johns Hopkins Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, MD from 2013-2015 where he coordinated several research initiatives with the National Institute of Health (NIH). Since 2003, Dr. Green was with Johns Hopkins Community Physicians (JHCP) and held a number of clinical and leadership positions within that organization, including Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer. His efforts within JHCP led to significant improvements in operating performance and increased patient, employee and physician satisfaction.

Before entering medical school, Green worked as a paramedic and a small business owner in the Tidewater area of Virginia. He earned his medical degree at Eastern Virginia Medical School, where he also completed a residency in family medicine and internal medicine.

Mr. Michael Heary serves as Vice President of Operation at TSi. His expertise includes:

Mike is a results-oriented professional with over 25-years of leadership and management experience that includes high-profile sales and business development roles that have led to explosive growth, operationalizing that growth with organic delivery strategies and partnerships, and marketing experience in the logistics, supply chain, transportation, retail, and home services industries.

Mike has experience leading the development and execution of strategies to drive revenue growth, aligning initiatives with strategic plans, and contributing to the overall direction and success of organizations. As a leader or a team member, his personality puts everyone at ease and creates an immediate high-trust relationship that creates a can-do environment to meet challenges.

Mike holds a Master of Business Administration (Finance) degree from Loyola College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the U.S. Naval Academy. During his naval career, he served as a Surface Warfare Officer on a carrier and frigate and had shore duty as an Academic Advisor for over 1,300 student athletes at the U.S. Naval Academy. In his free time, he volunteers as an in-game basketball announcer, conducts community service, and spends time with his family. 

ABOUT Susan Vafa, MA

Susan Vafa is TSi’s Practice Leader for Facilitation and Training. Combining her education in communication and teaching with her experience in Human Capital Management, Susan recognizes the importance of the human element in achieving team goals. With over 25 years of training and facilitation in private industry, association and government agencies, Susan tailors her approach to the needs of teams. Ms. Vafa is committed to helping individuals at all levels of the organization understand their responsibilities to achieve the mission and vision. Her ability to quickly connect with people and understand their organizational system, has made her a sought-out facilitator and trainer at Marine Corps Systems Command in Quantico, VA. Susan also works with various other government agencies, like the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), where she has the privilege to train USAID’s Program Cycle to various subject matter experts in health, economics, agriculture, democracy and human rights around the third world.

Susan believes the first step to working well with team members is to understand one’s own outlook and perception of the world. Leaders and team members have praised her ability to quickly create an environment of trust and openness, so they are able to focus on areas that inhibit individual success and organizational growth. She combines organizational development theory with individual team needs to ensure positive and lasting change.

With over 10,000 hours of facilitation and training experience, Susan is recognized as an expert in her field. She is the lead facilitator for our Leadership Effectiveness and Potential (LEAP) Program and was instrumental in developing the LEAP train-the-trainer program. Susan believes that fostering leaders at all levels of any organization starts with clear communication and providing the opportunity to ask questions and give input. She is certain that the power of the many starts with a leader who is able to self-reflect and adapt.

Susan received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Rhetoric, and her Master of Arts degree in Teaching from the University of Pittsburgh. Susan’s other certifications include:

Ms. Greta Densham serves as the Vice President of Programs at TSi. Her expertise includes:

• Program and project management
• Cross-functional team leadership
• Strategic support
• Communication and partnership building
• Data analysis
• Operational planning

Greta brings over 24 years of leadership and program management experience as a Naval Officer to our team. She combines technical problem-solving skills with a strong understanding of complex organizations to deliver balanced and value-added solutions. 

Greta has experience leading diverse multi-functional teams and understands the important interplay of culture, morale and mission in achieving organizational goals. She’s proven successful through strategic planning approaches to improve organizational performance using innovative and focused training initiatives which maximize results in dynamic environments. Greta achieved an exceptional track record of solving complex problems and meeting ambitious goals to achieve organizational and mission success on time and with limited resources. She gained experience working internationally leveraging effective communication skills to accomplish collective goals across cultural divides. 

She holds two master’s degrees in both Operations Research from the Naval Postgraduate School and National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College. She earned her B.S. in Economics from the U.S. Naval Academy. During her naval career, she served as a Surface Warfare Officer on several ships and staffs and commanded a unit in Sasebo, Japan and was stationed in the United Kingdom. She retired from the Navy in 2024 as the Acting Deputy Commandant for Professional Development and Director of Training at the U.S. Naval Academy. In her free time, she enjoys reading, travel, the outdoors and family time. 

Bradley Wooten, EdD

Dr. Bradley Wooten is a results-oriented professional experienced in providing leadership in educational, corporate, and consulting settings. He is a servant leader emphasizing a coaching approach to helping create successful outcomes with over 22 years of leadership development, executive coaching, facilitation, and team building in a variety of dean capacities including campus dean, academic dean for transfer and CTE, adult education, continuing education, and workforce development. In addition, Dr. Wooten has eight years of corporate experience working for Fortune 500 companies, and ten years of consulting work with government agencies including The United States Postal Service (USPS) and the Department of Labor (DOL). Projects focused on change management through leadership development, facilitating the implementation of a Visible Measurement System, coaching, mentoring, facilitation, team building, and delivering workforce development workshops to leaders and emergent leaders.

Dr. Wooten is highly experienced and proficient with multiple assessment instruments including the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Leadership 360o, DiSC (Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Conscientiousness) instrument, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Core Clarity assessment profiles, and CliftonStrengths, among others. Brad received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Augustana College; his Master of Business Administration degree in Organizational Behavior, Marketing and International Business from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University; and his Doctorate of Education degree in Education Policy, Organization & Leadership with a concentration in Human Resources Development (HRD) for the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. His additional certifications and training include:

• LEAP Certified Trainer, Coach, and LEAP 360 Feedback deliverer.
• Developing a Curriculum (DACUM) Certified Facilitator.
• Dale Carnegie Course completer. Course designed to develop leadership and communication skills to inspire and motivate others.
• Thinking Into Results Certified Consultant. Program designed to help individuals and teams achieve their highest potential for performance and success.

Jason Copeland

Jason Copeland is TSI’s Practice Leader for Data Analytics, serving as the primary data analyst on multiple contracts since 2016 and playing a pivotal role in working with leaders to probe their data needs and discover insights. During this time, he has worked with multiple data visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, and Excel. Most recently, he supported the Navy’s Director, Acquisition Talent Management (DATM) office, leading the effort to transform Acquisition Workforce (AWF) personnel data analysis to Microsoft Power BI, enabling clients to understand complex relationships in their data with greater speed and flexibility. In addition to working with DATM, Mr. Copeland has also assisted NAVSEA PMS 317 in the development and analysis of their annual workforce survey, along with scoping and summarizing research on numerous topics to support development of training and job aids.

Previously, Mr. Copeland worked with the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD) on various Human Resources initiatives, including helping the Command transition to Power BI dashboard reporting (including Diversity metrics), gathering research on Diversity and Inclusion, and conducting leadership training across the Command. He also supported two organizations in their development of their own program management dashboard, with data collection and reporting being based in Excel.

Jason received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Alabama, and his Master of Arts degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology and Human Resource Management form Appalachian State University
